About
About the museum
Professor Cynthia Allen’s classes Future Reality: Trends and Impact of New Media and Digital Art and New Media have created a virtual reality (VR) museum -- a beautifully rendered, 19th-Century palace that includes compelling vistas of forests and mountains. The viewer will don an Oculus VR headset which will transport the participant to the palace's museum's grounds, where a 360 look-around of the landscape will unfold. The attending docent or guide will encourage the viewer to explore the exterior surroundings and then go through the door of the chateau -- to walk inside the VR museum. The students' class projects are housed in the interior hallways and inside gallery rooms, tailor-made for each student's project. The VR participant will experience the artworks as if they were in a real museum. There will be digital paintings, innovative new media art installations, short films, podcasts, music videos -- and more. The 2019 VR Museum builds upon the one presented at 2018 GAF. The journey through this year's 360 VR museum adds recent new media technology and design features that enhances the gallery experiences and creates even more exciting experiences for the viewer.
